Church of Saint Laurent in Charmey

Saint-Laurent church in Charmey

5

The church in Charmey has been documented since the 13th century, but the current building dates from the 17th century. Of particular note is the pulpit, one of the largest and oldest in the canton, carved in oak (1661) by the workshop of Jean-François Reyff. The baroque organs date from 1768. The bronze liturgical furnishings date from the 1990s and are by Louis Angéloz. Outside, a path leads to a Lourdes grotto. An ossuary was built to the south-east of the esplanade in 1761.

The church in Charmey is open daily from early June to mid-October from 9am to 5pm. More information is available on the Val-de-Charmey commune website.
